Séamus Wine Lounge

Séamus is an Irish name, pronounced “shay mus.” Translated to English, it is “James,” (thus named for the winery principals, James Foley Sr. and Jr.).

We live out our passion for creating superior wines by literally hand selecting hard-to-find vineyards for our grape portfolio based exclusively on quality, terroir, and our winemaker’s needs. In addition, being small producers allows us to buy the best fruit from preeminent California vineyards without impacting their commitments to large customers. Being able to source exactly the fruit we want for each varietal allows us the control we need to provide you with the most select, delicious, luxury wines possible.

Tasting- $18 pp

Come taste wine in a laid back lounge that screams “ Rock & Roll” because we love all things music. Coming to our Tasting Lounge is like visiting your favorite uncle and chatting about your goals & dreams. Now if you want to add in a little wine education, we are here for you and we may get a little nerdy about it too. Ask the winemaker what you have always wanted to know about how wines are made.

Séamus varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Rosé, Dessert Wine and a Cuvée blend.

Our mission is to support sustainable farming and provide chefs with high quality caviar at more affordable prices.  We source from the same sturgeon farms that have met the standards of Chef Thomas Keller’s restaurants.

This is a highly selective process whereby only a handful of sturgeon farms pass muster with us. Caviar is then chosen for Chef Keller’s restaurants as well as for restaurant affiliates and chef events.

Not Too Much!

The Drive

Originating in either the City of Sonoma or at your location in Sonoma County, this full-day sightseeing tour travels approximately 100 miles on beautiful Sonoma County backroads as we wind our way through the Sonoma Valley to the City of Santa Rosa and then westward out to the Pinot Noir capital of the world, the Russian River Valley.

The Wine

We’ll be stopping at Gary Farrell Winery to enjoy the most amazing view available in the Russian River Valley – enjoy award winning wines while looking out over huge Redwood Trees and the premier pinot noir growing region.

Of course, if there's another Russian River Valley winery you'd prefer to visit, just let us know and we'll take you there!

The Lunch

As we continue heading west we will stop for our lunch at the Korbel Cellars where you can enjoy fabulous food and sparkling wine before we continue our journey.

The Woods

Armstrong Woods
Armstrong Woods State Park

Armstrong Woods State Park in Guerneville is home to some of the largest and tallest Redwoods in California. Spend about an hour ‘forest bathing’ as you stroll through the Park on easy to navigate trails.

The Waves

When we burst out of the Redwoods and into the sunshine and California Coast be prepared for the significant temperature change as the view shifts from woods to Waves.

We will stop at Goat Rock State Beach at the north end of the Sonoma Coast on Highway One so you can dip your toes in the (very cold) Pacific and then we’ll head south down the Highway until we reach Bodega Head where you’ll have commanding views of the might Pacific Ocean and the spectacular Sonoma Coast!

TCP, Seller of Travel and TCRC Numbers

TCP, Seller of Travel and TCPC Numbers, why are they important? They are ways Consumers can validate the Wine Tour Company they’re using is registered, licensed and insured to operate in California.

Wine Tour Operator Regulation and Authorization in California

Wine Tour Operators (WTO) are Authorized by the Secretary of State’s office and regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) office. A WTO must have a Travel Consumer Restitution Corporation (TCRC) number [which is required to receive an operating certificate from the Secretary of State], a Seller of Travel number from the Secretary of State and a Transportation Charter Passenger (TCP) number, which is issued by the CPUC.

Transportation Charter Passenger Number

The importance of a TCP number can not be understated. This is the number found on the left rear and right front of licensed and insured Wine Tour vehicles, like Limos, Tour Vans and Sedans.

If the vehicle does not have a TCP number on it, you are riding in an unlicensed and (potentially) uninsured, personal car, not an inspected and licensed commercial vehicle.

Seller of Travel Number

In California, if a WTO offers any type of tours they must be a registered ‘Seller of Travel with the California Secretary of State’s office. The Seller of Travel number is the office certification for a WTO that they are licensed and insured.

WTO’s are required to hold commercial vehicle insurance, a business liability insurance plan and have a drug and alcohol testing lab partner before they can be issued a Seller of Travel permit.

Travel Consumer Restitution Corporation Number

While the TCRC number isn’t visible on most WTO websites, it IS required. You can always ask a representative of the Tour Agency to verify they have a TCRC number. This is the number which a consumer will use to file a dispute against the Tour operator.

If the operator doesn’t have a TCRC number, it means they haven’t paid into the insurance pool designated to handle dispute refunds. This means, if you have a dispute with your WTO, you might not have any legal recourse.

Protect Yourself, Use Licensed WTO’s

It should be easy to see TCP and Seller of Travel numbers on WTO websites – at Old Vine Wine Tours we publish our numbers at the bottom of each page!

Some “bargain” priced tour operators offer their prices because they DON’T have a TCP number or aren’t licensed as a Seller of Travel. While it might be tempting to seek out a lower price for your important event, wine tour day or celebration, it’s better to work with companies who are, in fact, licensed, insured and regulated!

The Best Wineries in Napa and Sonoma

Napa may get all the attention, but Sonoma is where Northern California locals go to relax and unwind. Here are our thoughts on the best wineries in Napa and Sonoma.

What's the Vibe?

Napa is all wine-fueled luxury compared to Sonoma, which provides a more laid-back, locally-driven vibe.

Even if you’re not a California local, you've probably already tasted some of Napa and Sonoma's best cabernets and merlots in restaurants around the country, but there’s nothing like a day touring through the Wine Country to make you fall in love with the valley.

Whether you prefer rustic-chic tasting rooms, landscaped gardens, historic chateaus or vineyard views, Sonoma and Napa overdeliver.

  • Deerfield Ranch: Sonoma

Learn about Deerfield’s organic Clean Wine® approach to winemaking. The fee is $35 per person.
  • Beringer: Napa
